We are taking a little detour this week, with a quote that never made the final cut for our invites. In the search through our home library for quotes and inspiration I pulled out a book I had read end to end in just over a week earlier in the year. The book titled The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival was written by John Valliant, recounted the extraordinary events surrounding a series of Amur Tiger attacks in a Far East Russian community during 1997. Part thriller, part character study, part cultural documentary The Tiger mesmerised me with it's beauty and mystery.
The brilliant Carl Sagan is into something with this poignant quote from his artillery of awesome quotes. It makes me ponder. It makes me think. It makes me want to throw my Macbook Pro off my lap, get my arse off the couch and sprint around the block looking up at the night sky only to return home and hide under the covers from an unbearable feeling of loneliness.
So we both love a good tv series. From The X Files to Millennium, Gossip Girl to the Wire, Game of Thrones to Mad Men.
Like the internet-savvy, modern couple that we are – and having been conditioned on the pain of waiting a whole week for the next instalment of 24, (let's face it, having to sit through commercial breaks during 24 was painful) – we now do not download a TV show until the season is almost complete*.
Let's be frank, designing wedding invitations is a daunting task. Especially if you happen to be a graphic designer, Virgo and the groom to be. Its a once in lifetime project. So it was with a slight sense of dread mingled optimism that I opened my Moleskin and put 5mm fineliner to paper to begin thinking of ideas for our invitations.
